Fifteen Minutes of TRAGEDY

So I was on the Kedzie-bound train that was caught up in the car accident just before six PM tonight. We were delayed approximately 15 minutes, but you would think it was 2 hours, the way some people acted.

Because I was in the first car, I had a good view of the scene - the train we were on had not yet entered into the intersection, but the inbound train (toward the loop) was blocking Kedzie (that is the train the vehicle hit.) The truck that struck the outbound train was damaged, but the people in the car seemed OK, really shaken up though. We couldn't get off the train because power was cut while the scene was evaluated. One woman immediately started saying that the conducter should let us out by just opening the doors. Then she proceeded to say what a 'nightmare' this is. I looked at her and said, "For you? Seriously?" Because she had to sit in a chair for 15 minutes longer than usual while someone else's car was totaled? Huh?

I don't know if the gate did not go down or if the vehicle blew the warning. I'm sure the news will have the whole story.

Comments:
I know, considering it was at least one uptight woman's tsunami, you'd think there'd be more coverage.
