You Should Be Less Rude

That is a song by Frightened Rabbit. Scratch bought their CD from them and it included a handwritten note. The Greys is a great song, but YOU SHOULD BE LESS RUDE is a fantastic anthem for today.

So I am riding the train home, and I waited for a seat for probably 2/3 of my commute. A seat opens up and I slide in next to a guy sitting at the window, reading. Being a larger lady, I am hyper-conscientious of not touching anyone or seeping over the seat division. Seriously! Even though I will sit next to normal-sized people who think nothing of elbowing the crap out of me. But I digress.

So man next to me closes his book and puts it in his bag. I don't immediately jump up because we are nowhere near his stop, and I wait for him to look at me to give me the signal. When he does, it's like he is looking at me with such contempt for being there. So I get up and as he's getting out, I say in my sweetest non-sarcastic way, "Have a nice day!" and he is all snarly like "YEAH have a good one." Dude, I did not run over your cat, or even touch you.

You should be less rude. Like the Frightened Rabbit guys. They send gentle correspondence.

So THAT'S Why I Never Know Who To Vote For!

So, this definitely beats thinking. I just take a 10 question quiz and it spits out what I am, politically speaking. Brilliant. Take the test so that you can see for yourself. You'll never read the paper again!

Hey You, Turn Those Ear Buds Down Already!

Hey, there. You. Guy. Shorter guy. Yeah, you can't hear me because you have your iPod turned up SO LOUD that people halfway across the car are looking at you. Because you apparently have to turn it up to eleven to appreciate the genius of your playlist:

Alive and Kicking by Simple Minds, followed by Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve.

I thought people got iPods so they wouldn't have to listen to WXRT. What was going to be next, some Midnight Oil perhaps? Turn that noise down, sonny.

Nothing Like a Sunday Night Car Fire

10-ish

Scratch: "OH SHIT!"
Me: "What?" (I'm in the back reading up on the Stolen Sidekick.)
Scratch: "There's a car on fire in front of our house!"
Me: "Call 911!"

So 911 told Scratch that the fire department was already on the way. It was a minivan, and there was a small-ish fire in the dashboard. Within about 60 seconds the fire was HUGE, it was everywhere in the van. The fire department showed up about a minute after that, and put it out pretty swiftly. Yay, Firefighters!

There is nothing that makes time stop like a fire. The response time was probably something like 5 minutes from whoever called first, but it seemed like an eternity as the fire got bigger, and bigger, and bigger...

So, if you're in the vicinity of Charming Drake Gardens, and want to see the aftermath, take a stroll.
